CJ Glādriēna

A peaceful small town (CXL 2011)

Around a year ago I posted one of my cities here. Although it was made in CXL 2011, I got nice feedback. So I'm brave enough to upload another town with old graphics and just a few mods.

The city is called Glādriēna (It's difficult to explain, how to pronounce it. If any latvian or lithuanian happens to read it, I'm sure they can say the name perfectly). I experimented a long time with different maps and finally The Great Lake was perfect for me.

At current state with the population of 48 000 the city looks like this:

I don't like too many skyscrapers in a city. Glādriēna's are here.

As you can see from the map, I have built two bridges over the lake. One to the north and the other to the west. An airport would be nice in the west and I'm thinking about expanding the town to the north: more low-density housing and some appartment houses (using Lithuanian residences http://xlnation.city/resources/soviet-lithuanian-5-storey-apartments-vol_1.271/ if it works in CXL2011). The city could grow to 75 000 perhaps. I think, my slow laptop would just crash after that :D.

    5/5,
I looked through your cj and I have to say that this one is my favorite. The city flows very naturally with the waterway and has a very smooth and realistic look to it. No complaints!

Your city has quite the skyline for 48,000 people! Your city is very realistic. Thank you for using this map. I have several city ideas, now. By the way, keep up the good work. I cannot wait to see more pictures and read more information about your city.

Thank you! I am surprised, that many of you find my city realistic, although it's made in the older version of CXL and with lowest graphic settings. Great, that you got ideas from me. I'm sorry to dissapoint you, though... I'm creating a new city right now, but afrer I've finished that, I'll maybe return to Gladriena :)

It's a high density office. Aston building, if I remember correctly. Thanks for 5 stars

Nice town, you got there, but I think it's too small for skyscrappers as a Baltic city.

Thanks. Of course, a Baltic city with 48000 people wouldn't have such skyline, but in my mind it's located somewhere in my imaginary land :)

Thanks. It's probably my style. I'm not good at making futuristic cities though
