'Hope' is a journal i have been working on, in summer of 2013. It has initially been published in the old site.
Aim of the journal back then was to create a short storyline, use visual editing techniques to diffuse dividing line between game pictures and reality and create some unique buildings.
I am reposting the journal here at its almost original format.

Geography, Climate, Geological facts
Hope is a small complex of islands in the Western Pacific Ocean. It is located Southwest of Palau, East of Philippines and Northeast of Indonesia.
Being just out of the Northwestern Pacific typhoon zone, this micronation enjoys a mild warm tropical climate. Temperatures range between 29 - 34°C, with the water temperature sitting on a comfortable year-round 28-29°C. Typhoons can hit Hope from July to mid November, and may sometimes cause very mild damage, some temporary flooding and erosion. However, this is an extremely rare scenario, and not every Typhoon that hits Hope is a really strong one.
Located on the ocean shelf connecting Philipinnes and Palau and near the Indonesian Maluku Utara, area has a distant volcanic past. Despite this being mainly a volcanic / atoll island, parts of it also remind mountainous areas of the neighbouring Philipinnes. Through the centuries, this unique geological combination has provided the local populations with a wide array of building materials: both abundant wood and also large quantities of stone.
In real world no ocean shelf exists between Philipinnes and Palau in the way it is described in the picture. Location of Hope island is imaginary. In reality, this is just the South part of the Philipinnes Sea.
Nothing in there, except a more or less smooth oceanic plateau.

Lakewave Hotel
Lakewave Hotel is an exclusive hotel on the North side of the island.
Secluded sand-beaches, diving facilities, isolated on-water accomodation' all these offer the ultimate exclusive experience on the island.
Hotel was been repeatedly awarded in international travel publications.

Circleview Resort
Circleview resort is one of the biggest resorts of the island, located in the main bay.
Hope's economy is oriented mainly towards tourism and this was an attempt to recreate similar on-water resorts usually seen in the Maldives.
On its biggest extent, complex spreads on the sea, beyond the coast line, offering 5-star suites that allow direct access to the sea and yacht docks.

Hope International Airport
This was my first 'go' on designing an airport with real-world dimensions and proper analogies and runways.
Hope International Airport is an airport that was built in-game in two phases, on a narrow, level area of the map.
Initially runway was just 4,900 ft (1,500 meters), suitable for turboprops and some jets like the B737-800 NG, one of the first 737's that Boeing initially delivered in 2006 being able to land and take off using shorter runways.
Second phase included the addition of a new terminal, lengthening the runway up to 8,200 ft (2,500 meters), allowing landing and take off of larger jet aircrafts.
Airport is a medium-size one. With a total of 12 gates it serves a maximum of appx. 300 - 360 flights per week at high season, including private aircrafts services.

Hope Town / Pirata Casino Resort
Pirata Casino Resort was built in the late 1970's and is the first and only bigger size resort of the island. Area around the resort gradually became the center of urban growth of the island through the last four decades.
Hope Town is the main town of the island. Town started as a workers' village aside Pirata Casino Resort and grew up fast into a mid-size town with the island's cruiseship Port and Marina. Town is also Hope's main shopping and business hub.
Nowadays, Pirata Casino Resort, Hope Town and the cruiseship Port and Marina are the island's most frequented tourism hub.

Airport expansion is finished
Hope International Airport expansion has been finished in September 2013.
Airport in its final form is consisted by two connected terminals. Terminal 1 is the main terminal, while Terminal 2 is a satellite one serving seasonal flights, private jet flights and emergency helicopter or firefighter flights.
Terminal 1 and parking area are shown in the following two photos, while the last photo is a general view of the airport showing Terminals 1 and 2.

The Citadel
This was the first presentation of the coastline around the Cruise ship terminal and around Hope's most important monument: the Citadel that was built in 1587.
The Citadel is nowadays an UNESCO World Heritage monument, as a prominent medieval castle of its time.
The castle was built by the Portuguese, during the time of the Iberian Union (1580 - 1640).

The Citadel receives more than 800,000 visitors per year.

Hope Town and the Citadel
Hope Town, the Citadel and the Cruise Terminal are nowadays a unified urban formation on the center of the island. The three parts of the city are connected with a wide linear multiple-use road, including a pedestrian and jogging zone alley, a bicycle road, an express tram line and a paralell to it car traffic avenue.
Area around the Citadel is also part of Hope's Old Quarters with 18th and 19th century neoclassical mansions and buildings.
Aerial views and Satellite view
This section includes general aerial views of the areas described, a supersize aerial view and a super size satellite view.
