Salak is a city orginally founded as an industrial hub. Located inland, the mighty Baritan River snakes through the plains and valleys of the city. Bordered by the Bani Mountains in the east and by the Sablig Mountains in the center, the Salak Valley has become a strategically located place for trade and industry. A huge industrial park was built in the eastern bank of Baritan River. The park houses several high-density manufacturing and high-tech companies. It also has a small business district at the southern area to facilitate the management of trade and business in the area. At the southeastern area is the Sumapa Harbor, a district developed for heavy industries. Salak is poised to be one of the important trade hubs in the region.

SUMAPA HARBOR
A southeastern district where a small harbor of the same name is located. This is the only district developed for heavy industries. Before development, the area is heavily forested and many Salak trees were found - which the city was named for. Oil deposits were discovered at the foot of Bani Mountains. Since then, several oil refineries and other factories were established. A small harbor was built along the east bank of Baritan River. Large chunk of river was reclaimed making this part of the river the narrowest. Quarry took place when they also discovered mineral deposits. Quarrying took toll to the natural beauty of Samapa Harbor district because the mountainside was destroyed. Alongside the water pollution brought about by the oil depot, the factories produce heavy smog. This is the most polluted part of the city. Current efforts are underway to clean and green this part of the city.

With the increasing wealth of the city, a new business and financial hub is proposed to be built in the center of Salak Valley. At the moment, several companies put up branches in this district. Although there are no regional headquarters at the moment, this city is poised to threaten and compete with the established trade cities in the region.
