    Welcome to Sarıburgaz
Sarıburgaz is a Turkish town on the shore of Marmara Sea. Administratively it is a county (ilçe in Turkish) in the province (il in Turkish) of Tekirdağ. Not different than most of the towns in Thracia within the boundaries of Turkey, Sarıburgaz is largely an agricultural town, sunflower being the most produced crop. For the last thirty years, however, the town has grown in tourism as promoted by the municipality with the phrase "A Thracian haven."

As Sarıburgaz has also geographically been a haven since the ancient times, the origins of the town goes back to the ancient Greek era. Back then the town's name was πύργος , read pýrgos and burgaz in Turkish. Following the Ottoman expansion into the Balkans, the town was supposedly occupied in the 1360s prior to the Battle of Maritsa. Following the Ottoman consolidation in the Balkans, the town has come to be known as Sarıburgaz, sarı meaning yellow in Turkish, presumably due to another Burgas in modern Bulgaria.

Very beautiful and inspirational town! Just one thing - the declaration for the Bulgarian independance is on 22nd of Sep 1908, on 3rd of March 1878 is the liberation day ;)

    5/5,
Superb! I mostly like the solution you implement to make the traditional bar, with the smart use of fences and the corner Italian houses. Would you please tell me where can I find the Roman bath. Is it a mod? Thank you and many compliments!

    5/5,
Top quality journal! Your approach to a Turkish city has been successful so far; the old town part together with the esplanade look overly realistic to me.

I also like your description of the city's history, you have stayed consistent and in line with real cities of that region in Western Turkey.

    So, five stars :)

      Thanks kipate!
The esplanade is one of the "real" things which you can see in every Turkish town having a shore. So it's very great to be appreciated by the realism I have accomplished : )
