WestPac City began its life in the early 1890's when a group of Americans, Asians, and Middle Eastern natives began a settlement in the city. Prior to 1910, the city was known as the Apalachee. By 1915, the city's population grew to 10,000 people. Before World War 1, the city was peaceful without any major incidents. However, World War 1 destroyed much of the city, killing 3,000 people. By 1921, the city was rebuilt and population grew to 67,000. The city was spared from the Great Depression in the 1930s and survived World War II.

Today, the city's urban population is 634,000 while the total population is 1,023,340. Having one of the world's largest economies, the city has a signifcant number of offices, shops and more. Transportation is one of the best in the world, with only significant traffic jams around the downtown area and the highway to the airport. A High speed rail link is planned to link Cairo, Egypt and Dubai, UAE. WestPac International Airport was built in 1972 and completed in 1974. A second terminal was built in 1996 and completed 3 years later. It was designed to cater 60 million passengers. As of 2015, WIA is the 16th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, 14th busiest airport by cargo traffic, 17th busiest by aircraft movements.
The city's infrastructure combined American, Asian and Middle Eastern designs, making the city one of the world's top tourist destinations.
