Tutorial Window View for City Journals

How to make your own window view in 7 steps

  1. XL Nation Staff
I somehow came up with the idea of creating a "window view" image for my cityjournal San Alejandra. I was quite astonished of the positive reaction [IMG]
However user Supercitys354262 asked me doing a tutorial on how to create your own image. Here you go:

    Step 1:
First look for a cool window picture in the internet. Then import it to photoshop and copy the layer as seen in this image:

    Step 2:
I used the lasso tool and the magic stick tool in photoshop to trace out the "glass part" of the window. The result should look like this:

    Step 3:
The window image WITHOUT GLASS[IMG] will later serve as the top layer. First we need a suitable picture of your city in CXL. The best effect is reached when you choose an image which is similar in angles and light to the one you cut out.
If you want you can replace the CXL sky. Cut out the sky in the same manner as the window. If you need more details follow KR153`s tutorial about sky replacement.

If you are done you end up with a picture somehow like this:

    Step 4:
Put your CXL image behind the window and place it the way you like it most.

    Step 5:
Then make one image out of it using "flatten image".

    Step 6:
For a better result we use in the last step "unsharp mask". It is one of the most commonly used filters in Photoshop, which allows you to make an image appear sharper.

    Step 7:
That's it. Let me know about your creations [IMG]
