How Do You Tile Uvws?

    Hi there,

    I know there're a couple of ways to tile textures. I want to know what technique to use. What I've done with a few buildings I'm working is split faces into quads, then apply the same UVW. (i.e. not exactly "tilling". Thus, that's something I want to avoid while working with small buildings).

    Tilling the whole Diffuse map is not feasible. Tilling the whole UVW to use tiles around corners/sides is great but it's hard achieve good results.

    However, in 3ds max help guide they 'explain' you could use a composite map ...rather use a second "diffuse map" in another map slot, then assign another channel to that map and UVW for said textures you want to do tiling (something like this. But I have no idea how to make it work in practise, with one map).


    So... How do you do tilling? And (if you know more than one technique)... What's the best way for each case scenario?

    You can't use that for CXL, it doesn't support composite maps or multi materials, and you only have 2 uv map channels.

    There are two ways to tile a texture for CXL, you either do it by cutting the mesh so you can re map the pieces over a smaller tileable texture within the diffuse map, or you create a tileable texture that reaches one of the axis of the texture map.
