    As you may of noticed we are not as active as we use to be. It's due to many factors like peoples lives changing directions, work, school or even just changing attention to another game as I have done.

    I have been thinking of ways to breathe a little life into the site such as creating new forums for other sim games like transport fever or tropico for example. The forums may not pull in a crowd straight away but Google will eventually pick them up.

    Would be good to hear of any other ideas you guys and girls have :)

    I know I am not a modder and it is kinda strange and unmature to request something in a place not for mod requests. But I really think there should be an update of the Community Mod for CXXL as it is quite outdated and it lags crucial options for both modders and players.
    +Increase maximum amouth of thumbnails to 1.000 instead of 150. As for now, I cannot see most of my mods installed.
    +Increase amouth of availible map slots from 150 to 600. 500 for traditional 10x10 maps, 100 for larger maps. (works if you already have maps installed)
    +Adds cheat: Unlock all Rescources (which ables to see all rescources)
    +Adds Trolca Road Signs and upgrade sets for Cities XXL
    +Adds NEXL waterways and ferries for Cities XXL
    +Able to scroll down when clicking on an object.
    +Adds European/Australian Speed Limit Signs under 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 120, 125, 130, 140, 150, 160 and ∞ in it.
    +Able to add 5 extra road types and unables to change road type in menu after opening the game.
    +Larger bulldoze settings (max size of 4 to 10)

    Unfortunately Altiris is one of the modders who must also have life changes or is just to busy. I would love to see it updated also. I have dived into the files occasionally but get lost

    I think it is just ask them about whether someone else can take the old UIM/Community Patch and NEXL over who has experience in or works for coding programmes and modding. But I do have some ideas about how the new slots should be in place. In seperate maps inside Cities XXL->Packs under:
    ->Extra Mapslots
    ->20km mapslots
    ->40km mapslots
    ->60km mapslots
    ->80km mapslots
    ->100km mapslots
    ->extraroadslots
    ->extraskyboxslots

    Aswell as a camera mod with 360 degrees photos would be neat aswell.

    Hey!

    Well I mean my presence here has been extremely sporadic at best in the last 3 years or so due to personal reasons as well as just idk not being so interested in XXL anymore? I am not even sure why tbh

    Anyway the state of the site (I visit extremely sporadically I think I should put in some more effort lol maybe if stuff goes south in the UK I will be able to lol) kinda saddens me as at some point it formed a kinda important thing in my life and thus has become sentimental I suppose lol. But I have no idea honestly about how to breathe life into it again

    Perhaps there could be more focus on Cities Skylines now? Seeing as that has now become a quite capable city painter without some of CXL's constraints such as the lot size and it looking extremely strange when building cities on hills. I have in fact been thinking about getting it just not sure if a 5 year old Macbook Air could handle it properly for big cities (I suppose not). But regardless I think that would be a good idea, perhaps also try attract CSL Modders? We had some I think like years ago.

    Other than that I am not sure as the CX(X)L series probably will not have any more subsequent releases or remasters or whatever and XXL is very likely the definitive version of the game we will get. But of course transitioning from a solely CXXL focused site is hard I would assume.

    EDIT - formatting lol

    Well, the quality of a community depends a lot on the participation of its members; that's what I have always told anyone.

    Rant mode on:
    And what happened? You guys complained that "the others" did not participate, but you were not any better. Of course, releasing mods has been and always will be a huge favour to this community, I totally get that point. And I see that there will be moments in life when you do not have the time to create mods or work on cities. But that usually is no excuse to stop participating. Modders can give advice to new modders, city builders to newbies, and so on. That can oftentimes be done within five to ten minutes.

    It's like that the veterans here sunbathed in their past moments of glory and forgot that this is not how a community works. And now you start complaining. With all dear respect, but: shame on you!

    It has come to the point that I left, having become more and more frustrated with this situation, and only due to the additional free time that the current pandemic has given, I came to visit the site again.

    The point is not just about switching focus more to CSL or other games, it is also about commitment.
    Rant mode off.

    Edit: and of course, there are some veteran members that are still doing a great job.

    Yeah, your rant is totally justified, I should not make up any excuses for my inactivity to be honest other than just plain laziness which is not an excuse. There is honestly no other way to make up for my lack of commitment, however, I am promising myself to at least be more active here from now on because what you are saying in your rant is ... well .... just true, there is no way around that fact. I think that I have been very neglectful of the community here with my conduct and as you say, sunbathing in glory and staying when the site was at its most active and then simply vanishing from here.

    With me now having a lot of time as well I have started to even work in XXL so I will see what that brings. I do regardless promise to be more active in presence and being more committed to the community, although I realise that sounds just like empty words so if there is anything I could help with I will do according to the best of my abilities and time.

    I do agree with you on that part :( I am very sad that Cities X(X)L is officially dead. :( I love the game so much. My whole youth is dedicated to that game. And yes I agree again on the modder part. Unless a fundraiser or so is started to find a modder or a team will be formed and let things change I don't think things will happen again. :( Modding costs a lot of time and a lot of bureaucraty and talks with FHI aswell as moneys. And I 100% agree with you on the part that even the modders have their own live and other interests.

    Running a forum needs money, lots of Chinese XL players tried to build a Chinese CXL forum multiple times but failed, over and over again, XLnation is still the best forum ever for CitiesXL fans, thank you so much to everyone that keep supporting this community, and thanks to Skullz613 for maintaining this forum. Whatever decision you made I will keep supporting. Although I'm currently playing Cities:Skylines, this game is pretty much a steam workshop based game, its unlikely to attract members to a traditional forum while people nowadays prefer subscribing mods on steam and watching videos on YouTube.
    Transport Fever 2 is a good one, I love that game too!
