So, let's continue the conversation here.

What do you think about XenForo?
So far it seems to work pretty good and it's better than the old one if you ask me

There are two modules I will purchase to add to the site if you guys decide to move forward. The first is a chatroom and the second will add "featured posts" that can be on splash page or a cool slider at the top of the forums. The featured posts can be manually added by moderators or set to automatically populate based on a criteria.

Also if the decision is made to move forward I will migrate more modules from XL Exchange to here. Moderators could later change the resource owner to the actually member that created the resource in the first place.

Yep. I totally agree. It's not only faster but also has many more features than the old forum.

@IcyHot We really appreciate all you're doing for this site, thanks a lot! (I just noticed it has autocomplete function for member names, awesome!)

EDIT: We can make a donation pack to at least cover some of the expenses of the modules and stuff. I'm sure that when everybody sees the new site would be more willing to get the new pack :D

Me too, I would move foward into this.

The old donation pack raised several hundred US dollars, I think we could easely cover the modules. It might take a month or two to get it ready depending on how many modders participate. We would need to set up the donation system and a paypal account, preferently IcyHot's, so he gets the money directly.

If we get more than we need to cover the modules it could be used to make other improvements or to cover some of IcyHot's server hardware upgrades. He has his own motivations for upgrading but at the end of the day we are benefiting from it. It's just my opinion.

    What do you think?

(this thing updates the posts as you write...I'm loving it :p )

Also if you all want to let the general community in on this I don't mind at this point  As long as you guys are here to moderate them of course and they know this is all a beta test.

This is sweet. I think we could still do a donation pack anyway and give IcyHot the funds for providing us with a free server and all this extra stuff.

Maybe do a house warming donation pack.

Xenforo is wicked at the back end and is really easy to administrate. Have you guys tracked down an importer from drupal to xenforo?
Maybe the xenforo community can help if not.

I already checked over at XenFORO. Right now it looks like it would be a Drupal >> phpBB >> to XenFORO The other option is a third party vendor which will cost around $200 to $250
