This is my first City Journal. This is a work in progress in the event that I don't get to finish this city, I have been working on Ceralide for about a year, when I can.

Ceralide - The Capital of the South

Ceralide (pronounced Serra-Leed) is the capital & most populous city in the state of South Bronto with a greater population of some 1.425 million residents (2024). The city was founded in 1837 and planned as an attractive city surrounded by parklands in a valley 60km from the coast. The city was never intended to be the capital, however a gold rush in the mid 19th century, followed by mining, agriculture and winery sectors emerging during the latter 19th century saw sleepy remote Ceralide boom. In 1898 it was declared the capital of the state, some 20 years after becoming the most populous city.

About
Today, Ceralide is renowned for its clean city centre, low cost of living, lush parklands of various nature, its river and man-made lake (River Adelaide/Lake Adelaide), international airport within 5km of the CBD and its rich exports in iron, nickel and wine. The city is fully serviced via train, tram & bus networks and due to its founding foresight, does not rely on freeways.

Cityscape
Due to height restrictions imposed since the 1970s (proximity to Ceralide Airport), few buildings rise higher than 100m with the tallest building being the 162m Coalsworth Building (2005) followed by the South Bank Tower (1991) which stands at 148m. The city has relaxed building heights in recent years, however the cluster of intensely developed office, commercial and residential buildings do not extend outside the CBD.

The CBD is predominately a commercial/office area with emerging mixed-use and residential high rise. Few buildings rise above 100m
Kings Square forms the centre of the Ceralide City grid. The square contains 2 sunken lawns to conceal traffic on Adelaide Street and is used frequently for festivals, events and markets. The war memoriam was erected in 1945.PLEASE VIEW MORE PHOTOS ON THIS LINK BELOW
