Continents & Oceans/seas Naming

Astraea was the daughter of Astraeus, but she was no titan goddess of dusk, though...

 

What about Astria?

Hmmh, Astria sounds like some variation of a German
name for females... let me think about it

 

I also found out that the word Asteria is used for other titans as well,
and Astria sounds like a short form, so maybe we need to distinguish it
better... Why not Astraya? The aeus of Astraeus is also pronounced
as if using a "y" before... And it has 3 syllables, so not too much...

 

Since it's going to take for ever to agree on the names. I propose to everyone to make a list with the names you consider appropiate and then we can make a poll to vote. Everyone could make a list (which will not be open to changes or suggestions once it's "officially posted". And then we can create a poll when players can vote the most appropiate names from the published list for each continent/ocean.

I think we're ready to place the poll actually, the only things that happened were:

• I summed up all the names except Astraya
• Juan pretty much agreed
• Dreian changed Eminaea into Eminea which I agree on, and Byssinia into Bissinia which I don't agree on
• kipate changed Eminaea into a gif

Okay, so here my little contribution to the list:
I will explain why I chose the names, but of course, you later should judge
them regardless of their (probably deeper) meaning; tried to hand in phonetics
for the not so obvious cases:

Continent A- Astraya
Astraeus was the Titan God of the Winds, and also of Dusk, and since the
sun will set there each day at last, I thought it was a good choice to name
the continent after that god. Also, the "y" makes it a bit more playful
Continent B- Arcadia
Arcadia was in Greek Mythology the territory of the God Pan, the God of the Forest.
Also, it was the title of a utopian book by W. S. Gilbert.
Continent C- Pedreia
Yes, named after two members of XLN; guess who
But it sounds nice, I'd say...
Continent D- Jangannaca/ dʒənga:nəkʌ
Well, as this continent consists of several islands with many mountains and a lot of jungle,
this stuff was made for some kind of hollywood movie a la "Alien vs Predator" or else...
So I searched for some Hindi Word, and spoofed the combination of "Jungle/Jamgal" and "Hell/Nark".
Continent E- Caundale/ kəʊndʌl
As the continent looks a bit, let's say "twisted" here and there, I thought of searching for a nice
Hindi Word, and one was "kundali marna", which means "to coil"; "kundali" itself means "coiled" or "twisted", though.
And trying to get some better sound, I came up with this.

Ocean 1- Borealic Ocean/supporting @Pamascus27 idea
Ocean 2- Pedreian Ocean
Ocean 3- Nereian Ocean
Ocean 4- Pallas Ocean
Ocean 5- Mallahan Ocean/ "Mallaha" means "ferryman" in Hindi...
Ocean 6- Gracilis Ocean/taking over @Pamascus27 idea
Ocean 7- Tessic Ocean

 

Royb, you suggested more than one name per ocean/continent. May I suggest you reduce them to one per item? I don't know if you want to vote for complete list of individual names. If the voting is for full list, there should be one name per item.
