Basically, you have 12 buildings, and you can vote for the 8 of the 12
that you would want the most to build, in case you got permission, as they are
category 1 buildings (meaning only available by winning contests or similar...).

When does the actual game come out? When I searched for "download Countries XL" online, I could not find where to download it, so I assume that it has not been released yet. I searched for almost an hour.

 

Steven H. Endermann, are you confusing countries xl with the new city building games that are coming out soon? As Dreian says in the first post, "Countries XL is a project developed for the XL Nation community." You don't need to download anything - just go to the registration thread and sign up. It's fun!

No no no...
You play with the city that you chose for CountriesXL.
Then you can either join a group of players, so you join an existing
country, for instance the country ECHA with royb98, JuanAcade...
or you can establish a new country with a group of other players that
have played alone so far, or you can establish a country yourself and
try to get other players to join your country.
@Dreian is currently creating the map of Alpha Centauri.
When you register, please name the map you want to play on.

No no, you cannot download cities,
no one can download them, this download button for cities is a malfunction.
To join a country, you can ask the players with a personal message.
Click on the envelope icon in the upper right half of the menu, and then you can start
a new conversation with a player, just like some e-mail.

Yeah, some are still expanding their cities but we've pretty much left the concept of CoXL.
