Very good work overall. I wish i could afford such skills in creating those maps. But i only can use paint from the start menu... LOL

 

Well actually its not hard. More time consuming but not complicated. Paint.net is great program for overall picture editing, more friendly then PS but serves great.

 

My personal recommendation would be Adobe Illustrator. Very versatile tool for map making in general. Here's one I made with it a few years ago.

So i need to share my transport network. Do you remember the city of Silith ?
Here it is her tram + monorail network :

The globale network :

- From 1 to 6 : regular tram lines
- From 90 to 100 : special lines
- 57 train
- diamond line are monorail lines

There might be one to find, who knows... Meanwhile you can use "Inkscape" which is also a professional vector design software like AI but totally free to download and use. I personally prefer to use AI but I see Inkscape looks pretty complete too to make realistic maybe iconic maps even!

 

To add on to what skyline said, I believe it is possible to download older versions of Adobe products for free (CS2 I think). If I remember correctly you can get them right off the Adobe website. There's also the option of getting the 30 day trial. As for a free version... I'm not too sure about this, but I believe you may find what you're looking for on a certain Swedish bay... that just happens to be full of pirates. But you didn't hear that from me

Here's a map of a subway network from one of my old cities. There isn't too much structure to the lines now that i compare the map to more recent cities but the subway map itself isn't bad.
