You have to give a second coat of painting. :p Follow my tutorial 'how to enhance textures with the brush tool' under my ressources. ps: You have to have Photoshop or GIMP Paint Studio.

Hope you can come up with: jewelry, bakery, Comics shop, clothes boutiques, restaurants (any kinds with pizzeria, burger, chinese, sushi), pool/bar, small bank outlet, grocery, souvenirs shop, flower shop,...

    :))) i can continue a lot ^^

Hm... I stopped to announce any mods, because they always change and develop during the modding process - f.e. originally my current mod was home to a Starbucks and a Los Pollos Hermanos store. The examples above are all very nice and I would like to realize them all, but it takes time ;)

I guess by editing the lightmap I can add dirt-effects to my buildings? Like in the picture below. How do I do this? Can someone give me a tutorial on hand? gamescreen0010.jpg

here is a transparent dirt map I found and have used recently. happy to share with everyone else as long as i see it shared the same and some good free models are created from it!
Just add it to above your photoshop texture layer, adjust its tranparency to suit. thumb image below click it to enlarge guys.

After some inactive time, here is my new project. Can someone guess the city by which it is inspired? You will for sure, if it`s textured

hi gys am a beginner for moding i have 3 question :
    - can i use texture of google sketchup in my building and export to 3ds max?
    - it is possible to put the building when it was over 140000 triangle?
    - integrate the building with a single LOD (LOD 1)?
    dimension ( 700m * 220m * 270m ) it is not complete
    thank you for your help

    welcome kimou,

    1. No, the textures from an skp-model won`t be exported. You`ll have to apply them in 3DSMax. Take a look at this tutorial: http://xlnation.city/resources/making-buildings-for-citiesxl-using-sketchup.567/
    2. 140.000 triangles are way too much. The triangle-count depends on the base of a mod. A T3 building on a 60x60m standard base can have a maximum of 6.000triangles in the first lod, on a 120x120m base 12.000triangles an so on. A base of 700x220m seems overproportional to me. It will take up a huge area of the map. The largest structure in CXL is the golf course (I think) and it has a base of 480x640m.
    3. For better game performance you should always apply all 4 Lods. For a standard based T3 building you reduce the triangles as follows: 6000-3000-1500-100.

Take a look at the guidelines: http://citiesxl.wikia.com/wiki/Modding_-_3D_-_Building_Technical_Information

Next time you have questions please refer to the "Modding Help Quarter"-Forum!

Looks nice wildii! Although the signs in the building makes me think this is Korean rather than Hong Kong :p
Nevertheless, you did a great job and good luck mate :)

Thanks! Yes, I guess they are Korean, but there are no Chinese shop-textures on cgtextures.com ;) Is it legal to mod over the base? So that shop-signs reach over the street, like this:
